Borage is commonly grown in herb gardens in NZ. It has blue edible flowers that taste a bit like cucumber.

The seed oil has the highest gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) content of any plant oil.  GLA is shown to reduce the rate of water loss from the epidermis (surface of the skin). Studies show borage oil to be beneficial in the treatment of skin conditions such as rosascea and atopic eczema, potentially due to its high level of the omega-6 fatty acid, GLA.

Our borage oil is cold-pressed, refined and certified organic.

This wax comes from the leaves of the mexican plant, Euphorbia antisyphilitica. A vegan alternative to beeswax, it is used to firm up our Hemp Balm formulation while providing an occlusive effect. This assists when the skin barrier is broken, helping regenerating cells to thrive beneath. It rates a low 1 (out of 5) on the comedogenic scale, meaning its unlikely to block pores.

A dry oil that is quickly absorbed. Hemp seed oil contains an ideal dietary ratio of omega fatty acids. These fatty acids maintain the integrity of the skin barrier and moderate the water permeability. They also protect skin from the effects of U.V radiation. Caratonoids promote skin regeneration and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. Chlorophyl offers antibacterial properties, useful in eczema and acne.  It rates 0 (out of 5) on the comedogenic scale meaning it will not block pores. This oil has no THC and so will not relieve pain or offer any other benefits associated with the use of cannabis.

Our hemp seed oil certified organic. Sometimes we use hemp heart oil, which is not organic, but comes from cold-pressed NZ hemp seed hearts.

MSM (organic sulphur) is naturally occuring and found in both plants and humans. Also used as a dietary supplement, research shows MSM broadly benefits most skin types. It is shown to improve wrinkles, firmness, hydration, elasticity, and to decrease sebum production (benefiting those with acne or oily skin). When applied topically, sulphur offers anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits.

This emulsifier is naturally derived from sunflower seeds and vegetable gylcerine. It effectively breaks down oil when it comes in contact with water turning an oily substance into a milky rinse-able liquid. It is palm free, vegan friendly, contains no GMO and is not tested on animals. It is gentle. It features in our cleansing oil, balm cleanser and exfoliating cleanser.
